Your Help is Needed for Those Experiencing the Effects of Poverty

Hi all,

I wanted to do something good and make life better for those having a rough time right now in my community. I found out that In Morgan County, 1/3 of all households are struggling to meet their basic needs- housing, utilities, and food. With increasing scarcity of available rental units, combined with their rising costs, the number of families, and individuals in our community, experiencing homelessness is sadly on the rise. Programs in place during the pandemic that provided a safety net are no longer in operation. SNAP benefits have returned to pre-pandemic rates, but food prices certainly have not. The lack of public transportation and quality, dependable, and affordable childcare is a barrier faced as our neighbors search for employment. Our community is a great one indeed, but also one in great need. We are known for rallying when the chips are down and times are tough. We look out for each other in this small town. That is why I am confident, you will step up and do your very best to provide food and safe, stable housing to those in need. Can I count on you to make your best investment in the lives and futures of those being served by WellSpring?

I have created a fundraiser to support WellSpring. Through their annual sleepout in solidarity, they hope to provide food and shelter for 25 families. They strive daily to reach the ultimate goal of ending homelessness, one family at a time. —and you can be a part of it.
