Poverty effects more than one in every three households in Morgan County. 35% of households in our community struggle to meet their most basic needs. That is an increase of 12% since 2018. Homeless numbers are also on the rise. That means more children living couch to couch, in the back seats of cars, and even garages and storage sheds. Food prices, especially post pandemic, are contributing to food insecurity for everyone from young families to the elderly. Children are enduring trauma at alarming rates and Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE's) scores are at record numbers.

Since 1988, WellSpring has been serving those effected by poverty. Last year, we provided emergency shelter to 278 unique individuals, totaling 8,894 nights of emergency shelter and more than 15,000 nights of permanent supportive housing. More than 500 individuals in need were provided with food, and nearly 100 utilized our unsheltered laundry and shower services. With the closure of Manna Mission, a shelter for men experiencing homelessness, we created three sleeping rooms to help fill the void. However, the demands keep increasing- we have a long waiting list for men and families in need of emergency shelter.

They need your help. Will you please consider joining WellSpring’s annual fundraiser BYOBox and sleepout in solidarity, or financially sponsor someone who is? Our goal, through this one-night event, is to raise enough funds to provide 25 families with the shelter, food, and supportive services they need to become independently housed. Please join us!
